Pete the Cat: Pete’s Big Lunch By: James Dean, 2014, Scholastic Inc.
Pete the Cat: Pete’s Big Lunch is an early readers book by James Dean. This is an “I Can Read” book and is ideal for sharing with emergent readers, as it is a first level read. Pete is the protagonist in this book and he is a cat that finds himself hungry one afternoon and decides to make himself a sandwich. As he is making himself a sandwich at his house, he becomes more and more hungry and then faces a dilemma with the lunch he has made. This early readers book does a great job of communicating a story to young readers. Young kids who love animals and funny stories would especially find this book to be tempting.
