A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon, 1998, Scholastic Inc.
A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon is a wonderfully written, funny book about Camilla. She is a young girl who loves lima beans, but will not eat them because her friends don’t like them and they make fun of her for eating them. One day she wakes up with stripes on her. The days that follow are hard for Camilla because she is going through very odd transformations and none of the doctors can explain what is happening to her. Until an old lady comes by and solves the mystery. To find out what happens to Camilla, read A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon. This book is very important for young kids because it explains in a funny way, the importance of healthy eating and being different. It also goes into not letting how others perceive you, influence how you perceive yourself and what you like to do. This book is great for the reader who loves humor and also for parents’ who’s children refuse to eat healthy. It’s a book kids and adults of all ages would enjoy!
