When Agnes Caws is a historical fiction picturebook written by Candace Fleming and illustrated by Giselle Potter. This book is about Agnes Peregrine’s life and how she was a “bird brain.” Agnes knew anything and everything that could possibly be known about birds. Her greatest skill came around at about age 8. Candace Fleming very obviously did a lot of researching when she wrote this book. Since being published, it has received many recognitions and awards for it’s beautifully written story and the illustrations that go along with it. This is a read that is intended for kids’ ages 4-8 who are wanting to learn about birds and the sounds they make.
